Everyone has a dream. Just like the boy in the picture. He is climbing a ladder to reach the stars. Although the stars seem far too high for him to reach， the boy is still making great effort. Some people may laugh at the boy. But in my opinion， dreams are like the stars hanging highin the sky. Yesterday， a firefighter crossed a partly frozen ArizonaLake to rescue two teenagers， who paid no attention to the danger sign “THIN ICE， STAY AWAY”. The boys hung onto a tree after ice began to crack. A girl who had stayed on the bank noticed them and called for help.
Jack Gessner， a firefighter on the ice rescue team of Lakeside Fire District， crawled on the ice to save the boys. When he covered half of the 200 feet， the ice broke. He had to make his way through the water. The waterproof suit Gessner wore helped to keep him dry and the training he had received worked as designed.
It was already dark by the time the boys were taken shore. The boys didn’t seem to be panic， but their hands and feet got pretty cold. They were taken to a hospital for treatment.
“Every once in a while we have kids trying to see how far out they can go，” said the spokesman for the Lakeside Fire District. “That was pretty foolish. ArizonaLakeusually doesn’t get cold enough for ice to freeze solidly. There was probably an inch of ice in the middle of the lake.”
