W: Hi, Dad. Is there a map at home?M: Yeah, why?W: I’m going to a party in a rural house at the HillPeakon Friday.M: A party? What party?W: A good-bye party for Jenny. You know she’s moving to Newcastle next week.M: Oh, how do you plan to go there?W: I don’t know. I’m thinking about taking the tube.M: No. The tube doesn’t go there. The tram will do, though.W: Good. Where should I take off, then?M: At the Central Park station.W: Do you know how long it will take, Dad?M: Em… more than three hours, probably. Why don’t you drive your new car?W: Well, Dad. You know I just got my license and I don’t know how to get there.M: Come on, sweetheart. Have confidence, OK? Here’s the map. W: OK. I’ll do it. By the way, what gift do you think I should take to her?M: I’m not sure. Maybe an ice cream cake or some flowers.W: Anything special? I want to take her something that lasts.M: Oh, I remember you both like teddy bears, right?W: Good idea. How could I forget that! Thank you Dad.M: You’re welcome. Take care and have a good time. |

W: Good morning. I’m calling about the job offer I saw in the paper last night. M: Well, could you tell me your name? W: Cristina Forsett. M: Um… Could you tell me something about yourself? W: Yes. I’m 29 years old. I’ve been working in Boston. M: Oh, Boston. And what were you doing there? W: Secretarial work. Previous to that, I was at university. M: Which university? W: DenverUniversity. I’ve got a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. M: Oh, good, but why do you want to change jobs?W: It would be nicer to be near family, I think. M: I see, and how do you see yourself developing in this job? W: Well, I’m ambitious. I do hope that my career as a secretary will lead me eventually into management. M: I see. You’ve learned foreign languages? W: Yes, French and Italian. M: Well, how about coming for an interview next Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm?W: Oh, yes, yes, certainly. M: OK, thank you very much. Goodbye. W: Thank you. Goodbye. |
